Instagram has updated its standalone IGTV app to highlight creators, per The Verge. With a revamped algorithm and a new Discover tab as part of the update, Instagram hopes to encourage more creators to make longer-form content for IGT.

The update aligns with Instagram’s strategy of winning over to creators in order to make IGTV usage take off, but it likely doesn’t go far enough to attract a significant number of creators. Instagram launched IGTV in June 2018, but to date — at the highest estimate — only about 7 million people have downloaded the IGTV app, per TechCrunch. For reference, Instagram has over a billion users worldwide.
